Click for parts one and two.  Lets see if I can’t finish this up.  To recap, I have hardly any army, no culture, and stupid, demanding people.  Will try for the space victory but I’m likely to lose.

Turn 172, 1120 AD

Finally learned astronomy, now to complete navigating the globe.  There are still a few civilizations I have yet to meet.  A majority of the barbarian tribes have been wiped out.

Turn 200, 1400 AD

I’ve explored much of the globe, except for interior areas of other civilizations there’s not much unknown parts on the map.  I am earning 106 science per turn.  Unsure if that is good or bad at this point.  It’s been peaceful so far.

<Disaster Strikes>

Game crashed, last autosave is turn 190.  Granted, I’ve only lost 10 turns but my heart is not in this game.  I may come back to it at a later time, but I think it’s best to start a new game.  This time I will choose a leader myself and a better map type.  Too much time was spent trying to sail the seas this time around.  Also, will be looking to bump the difficulty up to the next notch.  Stay tuned.

Click here for part 1.  Today I plan on getting a couple hours of play in before football starts.  Lets see where I’m at…

Turn 109, 150 BC

I’ve expanded to the north and am in the process of expanding west.  My people are slightly unpleased with my rule; I will have to work on making them happy.  Up til now I haven’t really thought about what kind of victory to go for.  It may be kind of late to be picking one now, too.  Domination is out; I’ve neglected my army since I have few neighbors.  I’m barely generating culture, so that victory is out as well.  Remaining options are space race and diplomatic.  Leaning towards space race.  I am unsure of the capabilities of my opponents so this may turn out interesting.

Turn 137, 540 AD

The barbarian threat to the north makes expansion difficult and slow.  I hope to have the barbarians wiped out shortly.  Built a few libraries in my cities, but science is still low.  Met a few more civilizations.  Made a trade to get pearls, making my people happy for the time being.

Turn 158, 960 AD

Keeping the happiness of my people up is a constant struggle.  For a while I had thought I had created a few buildings to increase happiness, but I must have imagined it as I noticed I was generating 0 happiness from buildings.    I could swear I had build some circuses and colosseums earlier.   Anyways, time to take a break.  May play later today if I get a chance.

Join me on my quest of world domination. The settings are:

  • Random Leader
  • Random Map
  • Standard Map Size
  • Warlord difficulty – I’m a noob lol
  • Standard pace

I’ve played through a few hours at chieftan difficulty, so I am now bumping it up a notch.  Let’s see what I get with random leader and map…

Turn 0, 4000 BC

I am Gandhi, leader of India.   I’ve spawned on a narrow strip of land.  There’s sugar, cattle, sheep, and marble within view.  Good spot for a city.  Delhi is founded.  I send my warrior out to explore.  I start building a scout and learning animal husbandry.

Turn 20, 3200 BC

I’ve explored my whole island, which is situated near the southern pole.  More cattle have been found, along with some horses and deer.  Other than a barbarian camp which I dispersed, I am along on this island.  I’ve adopted tradition and I’m learning to sail.

I’ve bought way too many PC video games over the past year. Unfortunately, I have little to no time to play them. Most were bought from Steam, which makes it way too easy to buy games, especially with all the deals and specials they have. A partial list:

  • Torchlight – A Diablo clone. Picked it up last Christmas during the Steam sale. Good game. Was meant to be played during lunch as work, but I get too distracted.
  • Mass Effect – Put several hours into it. Like it very much and plan to go back to play before starting Mass Effect 2.
  • Mass Effect 2 – Bought it real cheap on Steam during the July sale. Haven’t installed it because I want to finish the first one.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 –   Enjoyed the first one on Xbox360.  Single player on this was alright, but the story was pretty ridiculous.  Multiplayer was absolute trash with the glitching and hacking and exploits.
  • Left 4 Dead 2.  Played less than 2-3 hours.  Didn’t finish a single campaign.  Not a bad game but it didn’t hold my interest.
  • Batman Arkham Asylum – Love it, and would like to finish it.  Got to a point where the game crashed at a certain spot each time.  Eventually I will go back and fix it and finish it up.
  • Fallout 3 – Another cheap one on Steam.  Picked it up and did actually finish the main campaign.  Started with the expansions.  Will go back to it eventually.
  • Tropico 3 – Liked the first one, second one went in a different direction and was meh.  Three is meant to be like the first.  Good, but didn’t hold my interest.
  • Alien Swarm – Free game on Steam.  Played through a few times.
  • Just Cause 1 & 2 – Bought #2.  #1 came along for free with Batman Arkham Asylum.  #2 is pretty fun.  I like playing and wreaking stuff up and causing major mayhem.
  • Saint’s Row 2 – Another cheap one.  Got good reviews but didn’t hold my interest.
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – Good FPS, much better than COD:MW2.  Haven’t played it for a while but I will when I want some hot and heavy multiplayer action.
  • Starcraft 2 – Barely played the first.  Been playing it for the past two months since it was released.  My interest is waning but I will still be playing it for some time.  I’m perpetually stuck in Bronze League
  • Civilization 5 – Picked it up this week.  Only played a couple hours so far.  Feels slow paced, but I’ll play through more this weekend.  The previous incarnations chewed up lots of my game playing time in the past.
  • Minecraft – Digital crack.  ’Nuff said.

When will I find the time?  I have a week off coming up and look forward to knocking a bunch of these out then.  Good thing I no longer play World of Warcraft.

A while back an online aquaintence made a thread looking for replacements as he had ran out of coffee filters. Rather than use my suggestion, he went with someone else’s idea of using a paper towel. What was my idea? I made a video showing my method.

How does something like this happen?

Me, that’s who.  Back to doing this sort of thing.  Been a while.  Last time I did any sort of updates on this site was nearly two years ago during my first Vegas trip.  Since then, I have started and stopped playing World of Warcraft again.  Moved on to playing more poker.  Starcraft 2 broke my poker addiction, as I have been playing it ever since it was released.  Not saying that I am any good though.

Look to be making some modifications to this site.  In the past I work more on the layout/format, which sucked, and disregarded the content.  This time around I will keep the site simple and use it as an outlet for the internet equivalent of my verbal diarrhea.
